About Me

I am a mother of three boys (three boys, being punished for my sins!) and have been a fan of photography for years. I started shooting weddings seriously about five years ago. With the arrival of my twins, I decided to reduce my working hours in order to spend more time at home with my boys. Using photography to make up for the loss of income was a natural progression.

This is where you will be able to catch regular excerpts of what I am up to...

I am so thrilled to report that an image from Lauren and Darryl's wedding was selected as the winner in the category "Reportage and Documentary" by Tamron South Africa.

This is what the judges had to say about my image:

"..it just has a lovely feel, a story of a celebration. The gentleman is unaware of the camera, the chance lighting given by the sparklers isolates him perfectly in the scene, combined with the bokeh with its speckled highlights, the image is naturally framed perfectly. There is also some digital noise present, which in such low light is reminiscent of film grain which I like, it adds to the impact and timeless choice the photographer has made to present this in monochrome. A great example of Reportage in that the photographer has reacted quickly to a fleeting chance to grab a great shot in what are technically challenging circumstances, well done Andrea."

Excuse me for a bit while I go pop some bubbly!
