I am a little behind in posting this wedding, but, having said that, I am ending 2009 with yet another beautiful couple: Geneiveve & Russell!
The weather started out ominously bad, so bad, in fact, I was made aware of a room that is available at the venue "in case it rains". One look at the painted, fake backdrop (with sunshine) made me determined to find alternative "in case it rains" locations.
We'll, with a stroke of good fortune, it did not rain after all - I was told by Gen they are both very lucky people - very lucky indeed! Another gorgeous day unfolded, along with a dazzling real-life clouds and sun-drenched background. :-)
Gen & Russell were so natural and gorgeous, I would've been hard-pressed not to get great shots.
Later at the reception I was asked by a guest as to why I took Genevieve & Russell outside the venue, when, needless to say, Makiti has such a haven of lovely gardens. I smiled. . . and now I hope these images do justice to my approach.

Gen's new surname will be Fish, so many of the décor aspects revolved around the theme of. . . well, fishes - very cute!

Sidenote: Makiti is a stunningly beautiful venue, with good food and really beautiful gardens that give you that country feel, I just seem to be drawn by the lure of dramatic clouds and skies.
I had the rare and privileged pleasure of second-shooting a wedding with Dror - rare, because I don't get to second-shoot much for the best of possible reasons, since I have far too many of my own assignments.
It is always fun when I can attempt new things and flex my creative muscles, rather than the usual responsibilities and stress of being the main photographer!
Mpopi and Rorisang had a beautiful outside ceremony in the luscious Shepstone Gardens and I feel so lucky to have witnessed their big day. We tried to explore a few lesser-known locations to achieve a different element.
Check these out.....
Oh, BTW I think I may have been influenced by Dror, as it seems I have converted more than my usual "one image in a blue moon" into B&W

I have mentioned before, I do find it rather daunting/intimidating/nerve-wracking when I'm hired by another photographer and, in this particular instance, the pressure gauge was upped by two bars. Not only a photographer, but, a photographer who changed his wedding date in order to book me. Gasp. No pressure.
Sarah and Jay had a dreamy, whimsical outdoor picnic wedding and the simplicity and laid-back atmosphere was really beautiful. Complete with fabulously quirky invites, a stunning bouquet, picnic baskets and blankets, fairy lights, a handmade cake topper and plenty more.
Thank you, Sarah. Thank you, Jay.
We had an absolute blast with the two two of you - in fact, you barely noticed the cameras and were super-easy to photograph.
I hope you get Pulitzer prize-winning images in Thailand - No pressure! ;-)

Stella, my second shooter shot the image on the left.

The cake topper and wire flowers were handmade by Sarah.

How awesome, and different, is Sarah's wedding bouquet - once again handmade by Sarah.

I am not sure who's granny I captured? This was as Sarah walked down the aisle with her dad.

Once again too many images to select from (and too little time), so I am sure there will most definately a follow up post to this wedding.
Andrea, I have been checking your page, impatiently waiting to see the photos of Sarah & Jay's wedding. They really capture the special day it was. Can we see more....pretty please :)
Gorgeous as always, Andrea! And I'm going to hold you to that promise of more images. :-) The last one is my favourite - oh and the ones above that with the sky. Eh, who am I kidding, they're all gorgeous. And I want to eat that cake right off the screen. Nom.

I have great respect for all the brides that have to fit all the hoops and so on just to be the best looking bride ever and then when they get caught off guard, there is Andrea with a evil smile on her face as she knows she has caught that killer shot that will win her some accolades in the near future.
Well done Andrea
Love the black and white pics
